Check out the opportunity below and apply today Seeking a Network Operations Engineer for a fully remote contract opportunity involvingmonitoring incoming ServiceNow incident and request queues, responding to incidents that require routing and firewall review, reviewing network to discover opportunities for improvement, and recommending improvements. Gathering information from SolarWinds and network devices to investigate, updating network diagrams, creating KB articles, reviewing firewall rules. Location: Fully remote Work hours: 8am-5pm EST Essential Job Functions The Network Operations Engineer supports network services (switch, firewall, router, essential for providing, supporting, and safeguarding the financial services network infrastructure. This role utilizes switch, router, wireless, and firewall technologies to automate solutions and optimize outcomes, with a focus on managing, maintaining, and implementing network equipment and services. Responsibilities include evaluating and assessing existing network technologies, processes, procedures, and controls. Additionally, this role involves planning and partnering to execute network solutions for the national client footprint, as well as troubleshooting when necessary. Work collaboratively in a highly matrixed organization with other IT teams (Development, Service Desk, Infrastructure, Applications) to support staff and remediate any issues that arise. Participate in internal IT projects internal within the department and contribute significantly to larger project teams. Obtain and maintain modern, industry-standard network engineering certifications as needed. – (20%) Maintain Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, Arista, and other manufactures’ equipment across multiple geographies, facilities, and data centers. – (10%) Deploy new network solutions, decommission obsolete network devices, troubleshoot issues existing network issues, and support other IT groups with specific network related tasks. This includes helping to install new devices and implement mandated changes and guidelines. – (10%) Understand and update network diagrams using Microsoft Visio. – (5%) Resolve technical issues of moderate scope, apply security updates, assess network and device performance for purposes of satisfying internal and external audits. Provide general incident response for internal users and routine status reports and updates. – (15%) Respond to Level 2 support tickets and provide timely support to other IT groups. – (15%) Work with new hardware and software technologies and be able to understand and learn these technologies as needed or as directed by the manager. – (5%) Support and protect a mix of high-traffic cloud-based (IaaS), onsite and remote VPN infrastructures. Review and provide recommendations on design interaction diagrams, system functionality changes, packet modeling, data flow, and interface specifications. – (15%) Contribute to knowledge management standards and knowledgebase articles used to document current and future systems. – (5%) Minimum Qualifications Must have understanding and demonstrated application of routing/switching, and firewall concepts Initiative to communicate and collaborate, organizational skills such as good documentation High School Diploma orGED CCNA, PCNSA, Arista ACE, or equivalent, or commitment to acquire one or more of these within first 12-24 months 2+ years experience in network engineering in an enterprise production network environment or equivalent. Continuous Improvement Projects Palo Alto Networks Panorama Network Monitoring Tools Conflict Resolutions Payment Card Industry (PCI) Financial Services Industry Software-Defined Networking Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) Preferred Qualifications 4+ years experience in network engineering in an enterprise production network environment with exposure to multiple platform environments including Arista, Cisco, Palo Alto, Citrix Netscaler, F5 load balancers.
