From $2,000 startup to global community spanning 3,774 cities across 134 countries, we prove that authentic purpose strengthens individuals and communities through innovative solutions to real-world challenges. ## Position Overview **Position Title:** Children's Book Author & Educational Content Creator Intern **Duration:** 8-16 weeks flexible **Commitment:** 8-12 hours per week **Location:** Remote with institutional partnerships ## Mission Statement Following Emily Matheny's "Miracle Has a Monster" series (now ordered by schools "in hundreds of copies") and Allison Wintermute's "Unlocking More" (partnered with Pierce Cedar Creek Institute), create children's books addressing causes meaningful to your personal experience while building educational partnerships. ## Core Responsibilities - Write children's books addressing your personal passion/meaningful cause - Research age-appropriate approaches to complex topics (mental health, family challenges, social issues) - Build partnerships with schools, libraries, and educational organizations - Develop educator guides and support materials - Work with Voice Up's publishing partnerships for print and distribution ## Participation Options **Important Note:** All positions begin as 30-45 day volunteer assessment to determine alignment with Voice Up's core principles: collaboration, humility, precision, patience, empathy. **1. Volunteer Track:** Flexible book development while building publishing portfolio **2. Academic Credit Track:** Earn university credit for meaningful children's literature creation (post-assessment) **3. Voice Up University Enrollment:** $350-$750 monthly stipends for committed 3-4 month book projects (post-assessment) *All intellectual property rights maintained by interns.* ## Required Qualifications - Current student in education, child development, psychology, creative writing, or related field - Strong writing skills and personal passion for proposed book topic - Interest in child advocacy and educational impact - Cultural sensitivity and child development understanding ## Application Process 1. Complete Voice Up purpose discovery assessment 2. Submit writing portfolio and book proposal with personal connection to topic 3. We sponsor every day people of all ages struggling with behavioral health challenges that are committed to making a sincere change in their life towards their purpose. We match then with mentors for the long term. Our youth, teens, and young adults are reporting the highest levels of loneliness on record according to the U.S. Surgeon General. Our work is going to help change that through simple actions that bring people together for the common good, focused on lifting people up, and creating stronger in person connections.
