As a Software Developer at NEXT Insurance, you’ll be a key contributor in designing, building, and maintaining scalable software systems that power our mission to help small businesses thrive. In this remote-first role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, QA, and DevOps to deliver high-quality solutions that are secure, reliable, and customer-focused. This role is ideal for a self-driven developer who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and is passionate about building elegant and efficient software that makes a real impact. Key Responsibilities Full-Stack Software Development Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable and maintainable backend and frontend code. Build RESTful APIs, microservices, and integrations that support robust business logic. Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code aligned with modern engineering best practices. Technical Collaboration Partner with Product and Design teams to understand user needs and implement intuitive features. Work with QA and DevOps to ensure seamless deployments and high system reliability. Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and agile ceremonies. Continuous Improvement Contribute to system architecture and technical decision-making. Identify and resolve technical debt, bugs, and performance bottlenecks. Stay current with emerging technologies and bring fresh ideas to the team. Qualifications Required 3+ years of professional experience in software development. Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, Go, or C#). Experience building and maintaining APIs, web applications, or distributed systems. Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases. Understanding of version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization tools (e.g., Docker). Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting. Preferred Experience with React, TypeScript, or other front-end frameworks. Cloud experience, especially with AWS, including Lambda, ECS, or S3. Background in SaaS or fintech environments. Familiarity with testing frameworks and DevOps tools. Passion for helping small business customers through intuitive and scalable technology.
