We’re looking for an outstanding individual to join our team as a Director/Lead Teacher for our Before and/or After School program at Woestina Elementary, located in Rotterdam Junction, NY. This dynamic role focuses on supporting curriculum execution in the Before and/or After School Classroom, while also handling administrative responsibilities vital to the center’s ongoing success. HOURS: 7:00 AM 8:30 AM and 1:45 PM 5:00 PM PAY RANGE: $18.00 $20.00 per hour EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-Time, Non-Exempt KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Curriculum Facilitation: Partner with the teaching staff to implement our curriculum effectively, cultivating a stimulating and nurturing learning space for children. Administrative Management: Oversee various administrative functions, including planning and organizing childcare services. Utilize independent judgment in areas such as budgeting, compliance, and staff development and supervision. DIRECTOR DUTIES: Community Relations: Collaborate with the marketing team to represent our center at open houses, local events, and community initiatives to increase visibility and enrollment. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations align with Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) Day Care regulations and build strong relationships with local licensors. Documentation: Keep accurate and up-to-date student records that meet OCFS standards. Space Oversight: Manage the physical environment, securing necessary supplies and age-appropriate equipment aligned with ECERS guidelines. Staff Leadership: Manage training and development for staff members to maintain a team of skilled and compassionate childcare providers. Collaboration & Communication: Use HR and enrollment systems efficiently to streamline processes. Maintain open communication with staff, families, and caregivers to support everyone involved. Parent Interaction: Plan and lead biannual parent-teacher conferences, offering insights to caregivers and guidance to your team as needed. LEAD TEACHER DUTIES: Program Planning: Design and implement weekly lesson plans rooted in the Creative Curriculum, tailored to support children’s development across all learning areas. Child Safety: Prioritize children's health and safety in alignment with ECERS/ITERS standards. Parent Communication: Keep families informed through the Playground App, email, and direct conversations to foster strong parent partnerships. Team Coordination: Keep assistant staff informed of classroom happenings, and offer mentorship and support to keep the team aligned and effective. Professional Growth: Participate in professional development and training offered through Healthy Kids, because your growth matters just as much as the children’s. REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE To qualify for the Director role, you must meet one of the following sets of requirements: Bachelor’s Degree (including or in addition to 12 credits in early childhood or a related field), plus 1 year of full-time teaching experience and 1 year of supervisory experience in a child care setting. New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential, plus 1 year of teaching and 1 year of supervisory experience. Associate’s Degree in early childhood or related field with a study plan leading to a bachelor’s or NYS administrator credential, plus 2 years of teaching and 2 years of staff supervision experience. Child Development Associate Credential or another approved credential with a study plan toward a bachelor's or NYS administrator credential, plus 2 years of teaching and 2 years of supervisory experience. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS You’re medically cleared to perform job duties and free of communicable diseases, including TB. You bring warmth, energy, and professionalism to every interaction with kids, parents, and coworkers alike. You have proven leadership ability and a passion for delivering exceptional childcare. You’re physically capable of managing the demands of working with young children (lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, reaching, etc.).
