American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Prescott, Arizona.Job Description & RequirementsSpecialty: Med SurgDiscipline: RNStart Date: 02/10/2026Duration: 13 weeks36 hours per weekShift: 12 hours, daysEmployment Type: TravelJob DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg, Tele, and PCU Float Pool position requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and strong titratable drip experience.ResponsibilitiesWork in the acute care float pool covering Med/Surg, Telemetry, and PCU units across two hospital campusesPatient population includes geriatric, orthopedic, post-cardiac cath, post-MI, and stepdown patientsNurse to patient ratios are 1:4 in PCU and 1:5-6 in Med/Surg TeleTypical cases include care of groin sites post-procedure, CABG post-op day 3-4, and post cardiac interventionsRequired to interpret telemetry strips; monitor techs monitor PCU and Med/Surg TeleFloat pool nurses may care for inpatients holding in the EDWork schedule consists of 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend requiredFloat first when needed; two campus float zone with approximately 20-25 minutes travel between sitesUses Cerner EMR; experience with Cerner preferredNo on-call or standby requiredFloat among Med/Surg, Telemetry, and PCU units as needed across both campusesTeam supported by charge nurses (non-assigned) and nurse aides in all settingsCPAP/BiPAP and heated high flow devices used in some unitsOrientation includes an 8-hour hospital overview and 12-hour shifts on both MedTele and PCU unitsSchedule is published 6 weeks out for 4 weeks at a time; flexibility requiredSolid color professional scrubs required; navy scrubs per Dignity guidelines starting in OctoberHoliday coverage will be assigned in rotation with staffTravelers will be notified of their assigned unit 2 hours prior to each shift via text messageCandidates must be prepared to float first if neededMust provide references per requirements for considerationRequirementsActive AZ or compact RN license required at the time of considerationMinimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in a PCU settingCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredExperience managing and titrating drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and InsulinMust pass Dysrhythmia exam with minimum 80% before contract signing; two attempts allowedAble to interpret cardiac rhythm stripsCandidates must live at least 50 miles from the facilityMay not have been employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past yearBenefitsHigh Pay and BonusesMedical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options401(k) PlanWeekly Payroll DepositFree Online CEUsGenerous Housing AllowanceTravel and Licensure ReimbursementsNon-taxed Per Diem and SubsidyTraveler Rewards and DiscountsAmerican Traveler Job ID #P-659089.
