Electrician (General Maintenance Worker)

Primary Purpose:Under general supervision, maintain, repair, and install electrical systems and equipment throughout the district. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical systems in district facilities.Qualifications:Education/Certification:High school diploma or GEDValid Texas Driver's LicenseElectrician Certification preferredSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of electrical repairs, maintenance, and installation techniquesAbility to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference materialAbility to perform mathematical calculationsAbility to diagnose and resolve problemsAbility to use hand and power toolsAbility to work independentlyExperience:Five years of experience in electrical field preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Maintenance and RepairInstall, maintain and repair electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems.Read technical diagrams and blueprints.Perform general electrical maintenance.Inspect transformers and circuit breakers and other electrical components.Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate of testing devices.Repair and replace equipment, electrical wiring, or fixtures.Follow National Electrical Code state and local building regulations.Circuit breaker corrective maintenance.Good knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems.Good knowledge of various test equipment.SafetyOperate equipment and use tools following established safety procedures.Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.Correct unsafe conditions in the area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.Supervisory Responsibilities:NoneEquipment Used:Power tools (drill, saw, etc.), hand tools, ladders, lifts, electrical industry specific toolsWorking Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and odors. Exposure to mechanical, electrical and chemical hazards. Work around moving objects or vehicles.
