Veterinary Technician Emergency Supervisor

VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is a 19 doctor specialty-hybrid hospital located in the beautiful finger lakes region. We are seeking an experience licensed Veterinary Technician to join our leadership team as an Emergency Room Supervisor.The successful candidate will be passionate about high quality veterinary medicine and patient care-with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen.Why We Need YouWe want you to take the skills and leadership experience you've gained over your years in this profession and put them to great use in our growing hospital.This is a working supervisory position which is responsible for providing ideal patient care, while assisting in the development and supervision of our assistant and technician team The duties would include oversight of our Emergency Service team, while assisting in all aspects of a growing emergency service..As a working supervisor you will work with the technical manager to:Manage and develop a veterinary technical and assistant support staff utilizing a positive and collaborative team-oriented approachFunction as a mentor to staff by providing guidance with developing interpersonal skills while working in an ever-evolving environmentAssist in interview and hiring process of prospective employeesAssist in the training and orientation of technical and assistant staff. Providing feedback and documentation to their training and skill level. Report updates regularly to technical managerAssist services in the hospital.Assist in annual performance reviews for your team membersMonitor and coordinate daily workflow with the assistance of the technical manager and adjust staffing as needed for vacation coverage, CE, illness and slow production daysExcellent communication and leadership skills are required.
