Buyer - NYC Ferry

Salary: $66,300 annuallyHornblower is seeking a Buyer for our NYC Ferry operation in Brooklyn NY.About You:This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody Hornblower's RESPECT Service System.About the Opportunity:As a Buyer (Purchasing Agent), you will be responsible for placing and tracking purchase orders, maintaining supplier relationships, and coordinating closely with internal teams to ensure materials are delivered accurately and on time. Working directly with the Procurement Manager, you'll support both day-to-day purchasing operations and strategic sourcing initiatives. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Place purchase orders and follow up on order status to ensure timely deliveryCollaborate with internal departments to understand purchasing needs and timelinesFoster and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to support efficient and effective sourcingReview supplier quotes and coordinate with the Procurement Manager as needed regarding pricing and vendor mattersTrack and monitor supplier performance, including lead times and quality standardsCoordinate with the warehouse team to improve visibility on shipments and returnsResolve delivery issues, delays, and discrepancies in collaboration with vendors and internal stakeholdersMaintain accurate and up-to-date order logs and procurement recordsAssist the Procurement Manager on special projects, including process improvement and cost-saving initiativesSupport forecasting efforts to ensure material availability and prevent shortagesAdditional job duties as assigned.Requirements & Qualifications:1-2 years of experience in purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain managementStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and multitask effectivelyStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPointAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environmentExperience with ERP systems such as SAP or Microsoft GP, preferredExperience working in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment, preferredHS diploma or equivalentAbout Us:Hornblower's passion is to provide amazing experiences on land and water.
