Pre-employment drug screens are required.The Plumbing Service Technician assembles, installs and repairs plumbing and med gas systems according to project specifications and appropriate trade and building codes. These systems may consist of pipes, fittings, fixtures and boilers for hydronic heating, water, med gas and drainage systems.Required Skills:Competent, responsible, organized and team orientedStrong communication and average computer skillsExcellent customer service interaction and a desire to fix the problem to satisfy the customers' needsStrong basic math skills, architectural plans, drawings and mechanical designAbility to follow instructions with minimal to no supervisionEssential Job Functions:Wears all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required at all timesExplains pricing for customersCollection of money for services renderedDiagnoses problems and/or failures in a variety of plumbing and gas systemsRepairs and installs various types of piping including iron, steel, copper and pvcInspects equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defectsOperates powered equipment including hand tools, stationary machines, and othersMakes decisions by analyzing information and evaluating resultsMaintains a high-quality initiative while completing assigned dutiesTests for leaks in new and repaired systems with compressed air and/or waterLawfully drive a motor vehicle and maintain a current driver's license in order to commute to the various current or prospective job sites in the regionOvernight travel as necessary within the region for corporate meetings, on-site project follow-up and conferencesProvides daily direction to assigned Apprentices on the job site and actively participates in training and development of ApprenticesMaintains a positive attitude to drive and build positive moraleMinimum Job Requirements:Available for overtime upon occasionAbility to work independently and with othersGreat mechanical skills and willingness to learn new thingsAbility to verbally communicate with management, city officials, on-site customers and other employeesAbility to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver's licenseReliable transportation to get to the Midwestern Mechanical shopAbility to work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlinesAbility to read and interpret written materials, perform basic mathematical computations and use measuring toolsAbility to lift 50 lbs. on a continuous basis and more than 50 lbs. occasionallyEducational and Experience Requirements:Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent requiredJourneyman Plumber license preferred, or eligible to test for licenseField experience in plumbing as a Journeyman Plumber preferredBoiler experience in residential and /or commercial application is preferredField experience in plumbing as a Journeyman Plumber in commercial applications preferredCompensationOn-Call PayBenefitsWe offer competitive pay, as well as opportunities for advancement, knowledge, and skill development.
