Survey Crew Chief

We are seeking Survey Crew Chief to add to our growing team.You will lead field surveying operations across Southwest Minnesota and Eastern South Dakota while working remotely and supporting a variety of infrastructure and utility projects. We are looking for a Survey Crew Chief with strong technical skills, excellent field judgment, and the ability to manage crews, equipment and data collection with accuracy and reliability. You will collaborate closely with project managers and survey teams to ensure high-quality deliverables and safe, efficient field practices. If you are based in Southwest MN or Eastern South Dakota and align with WSB's culture of innovation and teamwork, we encourage you to apply and forge ahead with us.What you will do:You will lead all day to day operations of a survey crew for boundary, topographic and construction surveys for a wide variety of public and private projects.Direct and lead survey crew operationsInteroperate construction plansEnsure proper set-up and calibrationsUse and maintenance of field equipmentOperate various types of survey equipmentOpload and download survey data into computer or survey controllerTravel, including overnight stays, is sometimes requiredWhat You Will Bring:3+ years of experience in construction, topographic, right of way and boundary surveys;Ability to schedule between multiple projects and communicate with project managers, inspection staff and contractors;Ability to operate Trimble/Leica GPS, Total Stations, and other survey equipment;Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains;A valid driver's license and clean driving record.Our preferred candidate will have:A two-year degree in civil engineering technology or land surveying; two or more years of crew chief or other supervisory experience;Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D or MicroStation/Geopak;Experience performing construction staking on large complex transportation projects.This position could be filled by an LSIT or a Professional Land Surveyor.Who We Are:WSB is a design and consulting firm specializing in engineering, community planning, environmental, and construction services.
