Construction Materials Senior Project Manager

ResponsibilitiesECS is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Senior Project Manager to join our Salt Lake City team. This is a key technical and client-facing role within our CMT operations, responsible for ensuring project success from proposal to final invoice. You'll lead materials testing efforts on complex development, infrastructure, and transportation projects while supporting field staff, clients, and internal stakeholders.This is a career-track opportunity for individuals who have demonstrated technical expertise, leadership in the field, and a drive to support business development and client engagement.Key ResponsibilitiesManage the day-to-day operations of assigned CMT projects, including technical oversight and client coordinationReview field and lab testing reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications (e.g., ASTM, AASHTO, UDOT)Act as primary point of contact for clients, engineers, and contractors throughout the project lifecycleAttend and lead project meetings, site visits, and walkthroughs as neededSupport billing, collections, and budget management for assigned projectsProvide field staff training and technical guidance; serve as a mentor to junior project managers and techniciansCoordinate scheduling, resource allocation, and staff assignments in collaboration with team leads and administrative staffHelp develop and maintain client relationships through responsive communication and quality service deliverySupervise testing of construction materials including concrete, soil, asphalt, aggregates, and steel for commercial, industrial, and transportation infrastructure projectsOversee resolution of field issues, non-compliance reports, or test failuresMaintain communication with internal departments to ensure cohesive project executionQualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDMinimum 5 years of direct experience in construction materials testing or special inspectionsValid driver's license (required if driving for or on behalf of ECS)Strong verbal and written communication skillsSolid understanding of ASTM and AASHTO standards, UDOT specifications, and construction safety practicesPreferred QualificationsBachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Materials Science, Architectural Engineering, or GeologyPE or PG license in the State of Utah (preferred, not required)Relevant certifications such as ACI, ICC (Post Tensioning, Structural Steel, Bolting), UDOT, or AASHTOExperience working in the Utah market and established relationships with local contractors or agenciesProficiency with proposal writing, scope negotiation, and client-facing project managementAbout UsECS Group of Companies (ECS) was founded in 1988 with the goal to raise the standards of professional engineering consulting.
