Looking for a career on the water?Then we are your employer of choice Work with us on the Mississippi River and in the Gulf Region.Maintenance Dredging I, LLC is seeking experienced Dredge Engineer to perform essential duties aboard its dredges.Responsibilities (not an inclusive list)Operate main propulsion engines, stopping, starting and controlling speedsInspect and adjusts enginesOperates generating plaint, air compressor, water and fuel pumps; charges batteriesMaintains engine room equipment and it's cleanlinessReceives and stores advises supervisor of supply levelsChecks all engines for water and oilChecks water pumps for proper operation and repair as neededContinually monitor gauges and information panels on pumps. engines, winches, hydraulic lines, valves and electrical equipmentReplace packing in pumps on the dredge as well as the drive shafts in all dredge tendersMaintain sheaves, pulleys, and bearings with grease or oil as neededTrack inventory of oils, grease, belts, starters, alternators, and filters and report specific needs to captain or project managerClean and maintain all toolsUse chain falls, come-alongs, hand tools, and power tools safely. Supervise all other crew members use of said tools and ensure that tools are returned to their storage areasRoutinely clean out the dredge's bilge and keep the hull pumped outRegularly update engine room logs and confer with leverman engineers on developing patters and upcoming maintenance needsReplace broken hydraulic hoses, pumps, starters, winches and motorsInstruct welders and fitters on fabrication needs for repairsRemove debris and trash from the dredge's pumps, sea chest screens, and plate coolersAny other tasks assigned by supervisorQualificationsTWIC CardPass Drug Screen (pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, etc.)Pass PhysicalEffective written and verbal communicationAbility to transport self to job siteCommitment to work safety 1+ years of Maritime engine room experience on vessels power by internal combustion inboard engine or one year of operator, mate, or deckhand in dredging operationsAble to lift 50+ poundsMaintenance Dredging I, LLC provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
