Our client, a growing startup looking for a Controller / VP of Finance to own the full financial function end-to-end. This is a build-it-and-run-it role ideal for someone who enjoys being both strategic and deeply hands-on.You'll be the senior finance leader, but you won't be inheriting a large team or polished systems. Instead, you'll roll up your sleeves, establish strong financial fundamentals, and help guide the company through its next stage of growth.What You'll DoOwn day-to-day accounting operations (GL, AP/AR, payroll, month-end close)Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsBuild and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flow modelsPartner with leadership on financial planning, pricing, and strategic decisionsEstablish and improve financial processes, controls, and reportingManage audits, tax filings, and external partners (CPA, payroll, etc.)Scale the finance function over time as the company growsWhat We're Looking ForExperience as a Controller, Head of Finance, or VP of Finance in a startup or small companyComfortable being hands-on—from journal entries to board-level reportingStrong knowledge of accounting principles and financial operationsProven ability to build forecasts and translate numbers into insightsStartup mindset: adaptable, pragmatic, and ownership-drivenCPA or similar credential is a plus, but not requiredWhy This RoleHigh visibility and direct impact on the businessOpportunity to build the finance function from the ground upSeat at the table with leadership and influence on company directionIdeal for someone who wants real ownership, not just oversight
