Special emphasis is placed on problems relating directly to drivers. Direct authority over drivers and dispatch/set up staff. Indirect authority over dispatch supervisor.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Assist in planning/coordinating the scheduling of deliveries.• Monitor reports to ensure specific goals regarding speed, idle and RPM are being met by our drivers.• Monitor the miles per gallon fuel consumption reports to ensure specific goals are being met. Train, coach and counsel driver associates on Progressive Shifting Techniques to improve individual and fleet MPG.• Handle phone calls and e-mail from retail customers regarding scheduling, load problems, missing products, special orders, dropping trailers, etc.• Create Driver Schedules.• Be available to handle problems/questions and help all associates with personal and professional issues.• Supervise the dispatch function to ensure that proper procedures are being used to ensure fairness to all drivers (to include balancing of hours).• Work with other supervisors and departments within the facility to maintain production standards set by the company.• Complete vehicle and industrial accident reports.• Complete asset inventory as needed.
