The Mechanical Pipe Fitter conducts all work in accordance with company policies, procedures, and programs. The Mechanical Pipe Fitter will directly report to Mechanical Piping Supervisor(s) & Mechanical Piping Coordinator(s). The Mechanical Pipe Fitter will be expected to be proficient and perform the following duties:Responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing piping systems that carry various substances like steam, water, chemicals, or gases in industrial settings. Strong understanding of piping systems, materials, and industrial standardsLayout, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related equipmentUse various tools and equipment, such as pipe cutters, threading machines, and welding tools to join pipes by means of welding, brazing, soldering, cementing, gluing, or threading themFabricate pipe spools and components as per project requirements using various welding and fitting techniques Diagnose and repair faults in piping systems, including leaks, blockages, or pressure issues.Interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to plan the layout of piping systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulatory standardsTest piping systems for leaks using methods like hydrostatic testing or air pressure testsEnsure all work meets quality standards and industry codesLead and instruct mechanical piping helpers, mechanics, and fitters under your supervisionWork closely with other trades like welders, plumbers, and electricians to coordinate work on projectsCommunicate effectively with supervisors, coordinators, and project managers regarding project status, material needs, and any issues encounteredConduct regular inspections to ensure systems operate efficiently and safely Adhere to all safety regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following OSHA guidelinesQualifications3-5+ years of experience in pipefitting, preferably in an industrial environmentCertification in welding or pipefitting – not required but advantageousOSHA 10 or 30 safety certification or willingness to obtain oneProficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specificationsStrong mathematical skills for measurements and calculationsMechanical aptitude with an understanding of different piping systems and materials Physical RequirementsMust be able to lift 50-lbs and safely climb ladders without physical overexertionPhysical stamina and strength to handle heavy pipes and work in various positionsMust be capable of working in environments that might be noisy, dusty, or have temperature extremesWork ConditionsWork is primarily on-site at industrial plants, factories, or construction sites Work Week – The normal work week will be Monday through Thursday 7:00am–5:30pm Position may involve working in shifts, including nights and weekends, depending on project timelines and maintenance schedules Follow all rules, protocols and procedures as set forth by the Company, which may be in the form of handbooks, directives, memorandums, meetings, or other means as deemed appropriate by the Company.Always maintain professionalism. Support all Company functions in a positive manner.Compensation and BenefitsHourly Rate: Varies Depending on Experience Insurance: You will be eligible for the Company Insurance Plan on the 1st day of the month after 60 days of continuous employment. The employee is encouraged to participate in this plan by using payroll deductions upon eligibility per the plan documents, which requires an employee to wait 12 months until they can participate. SE&M will contribute to this plan depending on profitability as an additional benefit to employees. Management will decide the level of SE&M's participation on an annual basis depending on the profitability of the company.
