The application window is expected to close on 1/30/2026.This is an onsite role and will require working out of our Carlsbad, CA office location.Join Our TeamAs a Senior Hardware Testing and Packaging Engineer, you will be an integral part of developing and supporting Cisco's cutting-edge component and packaging platform for our Silicon Photonics Integrated Circuits and chipsets. In collaboration with our engineering platform team, your responsibilities will focus on enhancing high-volume, automated optical assembly and test processes.Your ImpactDesign, Develop, and Support:Collaborate with the platform team to design tools and components aimed at enhancing high-volume manufacturing, facilitating debugging, and optimizing processes.Analyze performance data from Cisco's automated packaging tools to inform new project initiatives focused on improving our high-volume manufacturing platforms.Propose and enact enhancements to testing, assembly, and processes to reduce cycle times while maximizing system throughput and quality.Conceive, construct, and evaluate prototypes of complex electromechanical assemblies for use in automated manufacturing tools.Diagnostics Development & Lifecycle Management:Oversee the transition of new tools, processes, and components from development to production, ensuring seamless integration of innovative platform technologies.Design and execute complex tests during Failure Analysis as part of ongoing development and continuous improvement efforts.Utilize advanced data analytics, including AI/ML techniques, for proactive detection and resolution of issues.Maintain exceptional standards of reliability, quality, and efficiency in all diagnostic efforts.Collaboration & Team Development:Work closely with hardware, software, manufacturing, and product engineering teams to align efforts for successful program delivery.Create and implement project plans prioritizing predictability, quality, and efficiency.Engage in collaborations and travel as necessary to enable successful product deployment in a global context.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree with 7 years of related experience, a Master's degree with 4 years, or a PhD with 1 year of related experience.Experience in photonic testing or assembly in a manufacturing setting.Willingness to travel internationally to support projects and internal stakeholders.Preferred Qualifications:Background in hardware/software automation concerning photonics assembly and testing.Proficient in data analysis using tools such as SQL/JMP in a semiconductor production environment.Familiarity with photonics, fiber optics, and semiconductor lasers.Why Cisco?At Cisco, we are transforming data and infrastructure connectivity to empower organizations in the AI era and beyond.
