PITCO FOODS - Class A Route Delivery DriverPITCO Foods is a large independent foodservice distributor in Northern California. Based in San Jose, CA, PITCO also has distribution centers in Brisbane, Oakland, and Sacramento.POSITION SUMMARY: The Class A Commercial Delivery Driver is responsible for driving a tractor-trailer, and adhering to all commercial driving regulations while delivering grocery products. PITCO Foods deliver freight between Service Centers and customers and support the selling process.Sign On Bonus:This position also has a sign on bonus of $10,000.00 which will be paid out in 3 installments.First payment of $2,500 will be paid out after 90 days.Second payment of $2,500 will be paid out after 180 days.Third payment of $2,500 will be paid out after 270 days.Final payment of $2,500 will be paid out after 360 days.JOB DESCRIPTION:Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles (and triples, where applicable) and/or straight trucksPerform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipmentHook / unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailerPerform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to forklift, pallet jack, and hand truckSecure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies, including but not limited to: pallets, straps, and ropeRecoup/repair damaged freight when necessaryVerify and complete required documentation and reportsComply with hazardous material regulations and proceduresCollect cash or checks for freight charges, as required, and maintain required documentationFollow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch, including but not limited to: delays, arrivals, and equipment problems, as requiredDemonstrate internal and external customer serviceCommunicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs, solicit additional business, and provide leads to sales for potential new opportunitiesComply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/proceduresPerform other duties as required.MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).Requires one (1) year of experience utilizing an active Class A driver's license.Must possess an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regulations.Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.Must be 18 years of age or older.Bi-lingual is a plus but not required.Must be able to lift items weighing up to 60 lbs.Must pass Drug Test and Background Check.Must be authorized to work in the United States.Pitco Foods participates in E-Verify.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Basic written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)Ability to hook-up and break down sets of trailers that require an average lift force of about 100 pounds, several times per month.Required bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items with the need to lift and move bulky and heavy items without assistance up to 60 pounds.Ability to sit for extended periods of time, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of the truckAbility to follow instructions and complete required trainingAbility to work independently and/or as a team memberPOSITION REQUIREMENTSMember Service: Exhibits a professional demeanor toward others.
