Job Summary:The Journeyman Electrician installs, maintains, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls. They are responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of all equipment and machinery. Must be capable of safely performing the physical job demands in a timely fashion.Duties & ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret drawings, blueprints schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installationsInstall, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, lighting fixtures and other electrical componentsTest electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistanceMaintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, regulators, and reactorsMaintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systemsTroubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical, and electronic control systems and other relative devicesConduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance recordsMay install, maintain, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and relative devicesBuild and test new equipment control panels per blueprint schematicsAdditional AccountabilitiesAssist in identifying and correcting problemsWork as a team member with supervisors and other workersContribute to team effort by performing other tasks as assignedMust have a good work ethic and a willingness to learnAccomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishmentsUpdates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
