Our primary clients are the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and other Local Government agencies throughout our Central PA Region.The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes. This position is not eligible for employer-based sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesReview and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulationsPerforms routine tests on concreate, soils and other materialsMeasure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.Gathers and maintains record documentsMakes field notes and computationsNonessential Functions and Responsibilities* Perform other related duties as assignedRequired SkillsStrong computer proficiencyActive driver's license and reliable motor vehicleMust successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screeningPreferred SkillsClient Requested certifications, including: NICET Level 1 or higher in Transportation/Highway ConstructionNECEPT-Bituminous and Concrete Field TechnicianACI Concrete Field-Testing TechnicianCDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5Required ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)1-4 years of Roadway Construction Inspection ExperiencePrevious PennDOT and or PA Turnpike Inspection ExperiencePreferred Experience* Associate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction ManagementWorking ConditionsWork is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed.
