The essential duties and responsibilities of the General Foreman consist of, but are not limited to, the following. Supervise, develop and train as required to maintain quality, safety, and daily productivity.Maintain effectiveness and morale of field force by visible leadership daily.With direction from the Project Superintendent/General Superintendent, participate in Foremen selection and help assemble a field labor force for designated areas.Develop and define responsibilities specific for the task designated to the Foremen and crews. Set and identify team goals.Ensure that all manpower is equipped with information, an understanding of daily goals, and the proper use of materials and equipment prior to the start of daily activity. Identify and correct problems in execution and effectiveness.Preconstruction Project CoordinationReview plans and specifications. Fully understand scope, general and special conditions for designated portion of work. Rough up RFI's from review and send to Project Manager/Project Engineer.Develop master plan for execution of work to be preformed by crews. Extract detailed information from plans and specifications vital to team success and manage risk involving production, safety and quality.Perform value engineering during plan review for alternate means and methods of construction or use of alternate materials.Develop quality assurance program during plan review, along with safety practices required to complete scope of work that will be used by Foremen and reviewed with crews daily.Understand General Contractor's schedule, confirming duration and sequencing of areas. Develop a man loaded schedule /forecast manpower for each area within designated portion of work for field use. Identify and communicate potential delays or problems with Project Superintendent/General Superintendent.Verify that material deliveries support the construction schedule. Work with Foremen to develop stocking plans per area. Identify and communicate long lead items with the team.Work with Foremen to procure required equipment and tools on a timely basis to facilitate production, quality, and safety. Track and oversee inventory of tools with the Warehouse Manager. Oversee monthly tool inventory.Field ExecutionCreate and maintain a Weekly Action List that communicates the requirements for the team in their designated areas. Coordinate game plan with Foremen and Crews. Maximize opportunities.Monitor quality, safety and productivity daily. Identify and communicate potential problems that will impact the budget. Work with Superintendents and Project team to control outcome.Coordinate kick-off and/or area job start meeting with Foremen to communicate project scope, goals, game plan review, schedule, production rates, quality assurance plan, and safety requirements. Develop process for feedback and open communication.Implement safety program at the job site. Conduct weekly safety meetings and provide safety at all times. Coordinate with Safety Director and/or Site Safety Supervisor for support.Keep Project Manager, Project Superintendent/General Superintendent, and others informed of status, issues and action plans. Maintain open communication and provide ideas and/or concerns expressed by field personnel.Oversee sign-in-sheets and timecards daily and analyze for accuracy in reporting.Prepare progress percentage of completion on job cost. Review trouble areas with Project Superintendent/General Superintendent and take steps early on to develop plan to control outcome of cost codes.Monitor EWA's on job cost for accurate reporting of labor costs. Identify and communicate potential problems with Foremen.Verify that the process for submittals, RFI's and other preconstruction activities are completed on a timely basis. Be aware of outstanding issues and bring them to the attention of the project team.Meet with General Contractor to identify and communicate potential delays and problems that may have cost schedule impacts. Communicate issues to Project Superintendent accordingly.Assist in coordination of different trades on site. Serve as a liaison between KHS&S Foremen and trades, to be productive and move the project forward.Prepare Daily Reports utilizing information from Foremen during daily job walks. Coordinate issues with Project Superintendent/General Superintendent. Maintain accountability with project team.Oversee quality control on projects. Implement and manage program and supervise personnel required to maintain reporting and required documentation.Verify that field work force conforms to the standards established by the team's project goals, production rates, quality and safety. Hold everyone accountable.Oversee and insure Foremen are keeping constraints logs updated weekly.Other DutiesPromote KHS&S in the marketplace to customers, prospects, suppliers and prospective employees. Maintain professional manner at all times.Work with Safety Director and enforce safety at all times.Attend educational/safety training programs, as required.Perform any other related or unrelated, unassigned, unspecified duty that may be needed from time to time.Education: High School graduate preferred.Experience: Required 5 years related experience in the construction industry with at least 2 years experience at a Foreman level.Skills: Excellent leadership skills. Working knowledge of the trade, materials, means and methods. Ability to read and interpret drawings. Working knowledge of project job cost and scheduling. Familiarity with building codes. Aptitude for learning new things. Must be able to work under time and budgetary pressures.Physical: Includes sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and use of hands, arms, legs, and feet. Must be able to see and hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficient to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.Communication: Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Ability to communicate effectively and positively with coworkers, customers, owners, design teams and inspectors.F. Computer: Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
