At MSC, we take our jobs seriously and work hard, but we like to have fun in the process.Job ResponsibilitiesInstalls, maintains, and repairs pipes and fixtures associated with heating, cooling, water distribution, and sanitation systems in residential apartments and homes and in commercial structures. Fixes and replaces domestic appliances, such as dishwashers, disposals, and water heaters. Inspects drainage and other plumbing systems for compliance with local and national regulations. Performs preventative maintenance repairs on all systems. Oversee complex repairs and train staff to complete complex repairs on all plumbing systems. Completes repairs/replacements of routine general maintenance items and light electrical, drywall, and carpentry work as needed.Interpret blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materialsInterpret existing building plumbing through visual inspections for best problem-solving practicesInstall pipes and fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, gas, steam, air, or other liquidsInstall supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installationAssemble fittings and valves for installationModify length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed for a buildingUse saws and pipe cutters as necessaryTroubleshoot and repair domestic, sanitary, and storm water systems, including water heatersCollaborate with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbingTest plumbing systems for leaks and other problemsAnalyze problems and identify appropriate tools and materials for repairChoose plumbing materials based on budget, location, and intended uses of buildingFollow health and safety standards and comply with building codesWrite report documenting the problem and summary of actions takenPerform inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn partsPrepare bids and schedules and oversee other workers, such as apprentices and helpersGeneral maintenance work as needed or as directed by managementPerform routine preventative maintenance repairs on all plumbing related systems, including but not limited to fire suppression systems, boilers, and septic systems.Participate in all weather-related emergencies, including snow removal and other inclement weather preparedness and recovery operations.Participate in the routine On-Call schedule.Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Overtime and weekend hours possible during busy turnover season and as weather and business needs require.
