Heavy Civil/Highway Construction Superintendent A leading general contractor in the Phoenix area is on the lookout for an experienced Heavy Civil/Highway Superintendent to take charge of field operations. We seek a candidate with a proven history of effectively managing teams and projects involving highway paving, earthwork, excavation, underground utilities, and related tasks. What You'll Do Foster a zero-incident culture by overseeing site safety, equipment, and compliance. Plan and manage daily field operations from mobilization to project closeout. Interpret and implement plans, specifications, and contracts, ensuring compliance with QA/QC standards. Develop and maintain a 3-week look-ahead schedule, sequencing work to avoid delays. Assess manpower, equipment, and material requirements; manage deliveries and logistic needs. Lead, mentor, and evaluate field personnel; assist with hiring and training efforts. Produce and maintain comprehensive project documentation (RFIs, submittals, change orders, diaries, quantities, purchase orders, schedules, as-builts). Collaborate with owners, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, and the public for project success. Proactively identify long-lead items and risks, driving timely solutions to remain on schedule and budget. What You Bring 5+ years of supervisory experience in heavy civil/highway construction. 5+ years of leadership experience on heavy civil projects. Extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs, scheduling, and quality control. Ability to read and manage construction drawings and documents proficiently. Strong communication and team-building skills; ability to remain calm under pressure and focus on solutions. Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
