LSF is searching for a dedicated Infant and Toddler Development Specialist who is passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of young children and their families. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 5:30 pm Purpose and Impact: The Infant and Toddler Development Specialist will plan and implement engaging educational activities for infants and toddlers within the Early Head Start Program, ensuring adherence to federal performance standards. You will also play a vital role in quality assurance efforts for Head Start/Early Head Start. Essential Functions: Design and execute daily lesson plans that promote education and enrichment activities suitable for infants and toddlers. Create innovative classroom layouts that foster an effective learning environment. Assess the developmental and educational needs of infants and toddlers, implementing personalized education plans in compliance with federal standards. Monitor meal and snack times as well as classroom activities to ensure a safe space for toddlers. Document children's progress and maintain required reports in alignment with federal regulations. Make appropriate referrals to Head Start Teachers as needed. Utilize active supervision techniques to promote positive behavior in the classroom. Build strong, supportive relationships with the children. Maintain a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio assessment for each child. Ensure readiness for preschool for at least 80% of children. Plan activities that involve parents and community volunteers. Participate in workshops and meetings to share and gather important information. Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and any necessary changes to individual education plans. Conduct health checks on children, identifying and reporting any health concerns. Safeguard children by reporting suspected abuse or neglect as required. Organize and supervise field trips for children. Request necessary supplies and equipment for classroom use. Ensure classrooms and facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained. Collaborate with Early Head Start staff regarding child and family concerns. Perform CPR and First Aid as needed. Complete required SIDS training annually. Uphold strict confidentiality regarding children and families. Attend all required staff and parent meetings and activities. Carry out additional related duties as required. Physical Requirements: Must be capable of lifting at least 45 lbs. and providing physical support for special needs children as required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities. Education: High school diploma or GED; and one of the following: National Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) for Preschool or Infant/Toddler, Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC), Certified Childcare Professional (CCP), or an associate/bachelor's degree in child development or early childhood education with a focus on infant and toddler development. Experience: Two years of working experience with Head Start, Early Head Start, or related fields involving preschool or kindergarten-aged children. Additional Requirements: Proof of completion of Florida Child Care Facility Training (45 hours) within the specified timeline; Developmentally Appropriate Practices for Infant/Toddlers training; Safe Sleep/Shaken Baby Syndrome training; CPR certification within 90 days of hire; Level II background screening and health evaluations prior to hiring. Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish or other relevant languages) are preferred. Skills: Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for infant and toddler education. Familiarity with behavior modification theories for this age group. Ability to make presentations and communicate effectively. Capability to resolve conflicts among young children. Organizational skills to plan and implement curricula effectively. Proficiency in using computers and related software. Capacity to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Ability to assist with the physical transportation of special needs children.
