Explore the Available Incentives As a Customs and Border Protection Specialist, you will be a key member of our workforce, which includes over 60,000 professionals dedicated to safeguarding the American public, preventing unlawful activities, and ensuring our economic prosperity. Your role as a CBP Specialist means you are a vital part of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer profession. Key Responsibilities: Enforce customs, immigration, and agricultural laws and regulations. Facilitate the efficient movement of legitimate trade and travel. Conduct thorough inspections of individuals and vehicles. Assess the eligibility of individuals seeking entry into the United States. Prevent illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods, as well as the trafficking of illegal drugs and contraband. Locations with Incentives: You will indicate your preference for assignment in one of our mission-critical locations, which may include Anchorage, AK; Douglas, AZ; Calexico, CA; Miami, FL; and many others across the United States. Incentives may be available for certain locations to enhance your compensation package. Salary and Benefits Details: Recruitment Incentives of up to $15,000 per year for three or four-year service contracts are available at select locations. Your annual base salary will range from $40,332 to $109,952, depending on experience, education, and location. A fully trained CBP Specialist can earn up to $45,000 in overtime pay, in addition to base salary. Qualifications: To qualify for the GS-5 grade level: Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of general work experience demonstrating the ability to engage with people and learn a complex body of knowledge; OR Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; OR Combination of Experience and Education: A blend of relevant experience and education will be evaluated based on your submitted resume and transcripts. For GS-7 grade level eligibility: Experience: One (1) year of specialized work equivalent to the GS-5 level, including inspections and compliance determinations; OR Education: A bachelor's degree with a strong academic record; OR Combination of Experience and Education: Equivalent specialized experience and graduate-level education. Additional Requirements: Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is mandatory. Residency: Must have lived in the U.S. for at least three of the last five years. Age Restriction: Candidates must be under 40 years old at the time of selection, with exceptions for veterans and current law enforcement officers.
