SummaryO'Leary Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our athletic department as a Boys Basketball Coach. This part-time position is ideal for someone passionate about mentoring young athletes and fostering a positive team environment. The coach will be responsible for developing players' skills, promoting teamwork, and ensuring a safe and supportive atmosphere for all participants.Responsibilities- Plan and conduct regular basketball practices, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy.- Organize and oversee competitive games and tournaments, ensuring adherence to league rules and regulations.- Develop and implement training programs tailored to the needs of individual players and the team as a whole.- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages sportsmanship, respect, and personal growth.- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding schedules, expectations, and player progress.- Monitor and evaluate player performance, providing constructive feedback to facilitate improvement.- Ensure the safety of all participants during practices and games, adhering to all school and athletic guidelines.- Assist in the recruitment of players and promote the basketball program within the school community.- Attend staff meetings and collaborate with other coaches and school personnel to enhance the athletic program.Requirements- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school or youth level.- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate practice and game schedules.- First Aid and CPR certification is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.- A background check will be required prior to employment.- Passion for youth sports and a commitment to fostering a positive athletic experience for all participants.This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment "at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.Employment is contingent upon board approval and successful completion of federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
