Assistant Athletic TrainerUCFSD Athletics8 hours/day, 220 days per year (1,760 hours)Begins in the 2025-2026 School YearRate: $31.00 per hourOpened until filled.POSITION SUMMARY:The Assistant Athletic Trainer shall represent our school district in a way that reflects our values and standards. They perform athletic training responsibilities for school-sponsored athletic teams as defined in the Team Physician Standing Orders Protocol. They also provide support for overall school district healthcare administration and coverage for non-athletic student activities. They must collaborate daily with the head athletic trainer and other district staff. They must have strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree required (Master's Degree preferred) ATC- Athletic Trainer Certification from the Board of Certification (BOC) LAT- Athletic Trainer Licensure from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania CPR/AED Certification PIAA/NWCA Minimum Wrestling Weight Assessor Certification (can be obtained after employment) Maintain Continuing Education Units (CEUS) in accordance with BOC requirements Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills Fosters a culture of equity, inclusion, and safety for all students DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:HEALTHCARE ADMINISTRATION AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY Collaborate with parents, school nurses, school counselors, and other school officials to construct action plans for students who may need additional accommodations. Communicate with our team physician, coaches, and school officials on matters regarding student-athlete safety and health. Communicate with parents and student-athletes regarding the status of injuries and illness. Maintain excellent documentation regarding injuries and illnesses, and work with the Head Athletic Trainer to provide seasonal reports to the Supervisor of Athletics. In conjunction with the Head Athletic Trainer, collaborate with the school administration to develop appropriate guidelines and policies regarding student health and safety. Assist in the approval of student registrations & CIPPE forms when needed. Attend athletics department meetings as directed by the Supervisor of Athletics. Maintain a connection with broader athletic training communities at the league, county, and/or state level to maintain collegiality and collaboration. Attend professional development opportunities. INJURY AND ILLNESS PREVENTION & WELLNESS PROMOTION Serve as a consultant to coaches in selecting protective equipment. Monitor weather conditions and provide coaches with appropriate guidelines and restrictions. Advise and assist coaching staff in developing off-season, pre-season, and in-season conditioning programs. Serve as a resource for student-athletes, parents, and coaches on wellness-related topics. Work with the administration and the behavioral health team on matters related to student mental health. EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS Evaluate and/or refer orthopedic injuries, illnesses, and general medical conditions as appropriate. Evaluate and refer concussions in accordance with UCFSD Board Policy. Develop a management plan in collaboration with additional school district and/or non-school district healthcare professionals regarding existing medical conditions that affect participation in athletics and activities. Act as a Minimum Wrestling Weight Assessor as defined by the PIAA & NWCA. IMMEDIATE AND EMERGENCY CARE Provide immediate care and coverage during home in-season athletic practices and contests. Provide immediate care and coverage or other health care related duties at away contests or school events, including but not limited to: varsity football games, playoff contests, and school field trips, as directed by the Supervisor of Athletics. Work with the administration, athletic training staff, other school officials, and local EMS to develop an emergency action plan for each athletic venue. Maintain emergency equipment and ensure all items are in working order. THERAPEUTIC INTERVENTION Supervise concussion return to play protocols as defined by UCFSD Board Policy. Utilize therapeutic interventions (taping, bracing, etc.) and therapeutic modalities for injured athletes as indicated. Develop and implement programs of physical rehabilitation for injured athletes, when appropriate.
