You will engage in sample preparation, collection, testing, field observations, and document construction activities on site, covering materials such as soil, concrete, grout, mortar, and asphalt. Your daily schedule may vary, so flexibility and reliable transportation to and from the office at all hours are necessary.Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Level II Technician, you will:Receive and execute written and verbal instructions effectively.Review specifications for civil and structural plans and identify relevant sections.Conduct tests and inspections with minimal supervision.Prepare and submit daily field reports to document activities.Communicate non-conforming items to project supervisors.Maintain and calibrate all assigned equipment according to standards.Transport and use a nuclear density gauge, following safety protocols.Demonstrate competency in One-Point Proctor testing and other relevant procedures.Understand and conduct mortar and grout sampling/testing.Monitor asphalt placement with a general knowledge of the procedures involved.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess:Intermediate knowledge of sample preparation, testing, and documentation.Ability to create and maintain accurate test records and prepare understandable reports.Computer proficiency and the ability to quickly learn company-specific software.Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships.Professional demeanor at all times, even in stressful situations.Ethical and safety-conscious work habits.A valid driver's license and the ability to drive a company vehicle safely.Physical RequirementsCandidates must be able to:Lift or carry objects/materials weighing up to 50 lbs.Climb ladders and scaffolding.Physically navigate construction sites and excavations.Effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally.Education, Training, & ExperienceTo qualify, you need:A high school diploma or equivalent.At least 12 months of construction materials testing experience.ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Level I Certification.Portable Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Certification.Understanding of Proctor Compaction Test and USCS Soil Classification.Demonstrated competency in One-Point Proctor testing.ICC Soils Special Inspector Certification.Ability to read and understand detailed plans and specifications.Competency in mortar and grout sampling/testing.General knowledge of asphalt placement monitoring.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis position is generally full-time, with a normal work schedule typically from 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Hours will be adjusted regularly to accommodate construction client schedules, often including weekends, night work, and early mornings.TravelDaily travel to construction work sites, generally within 100 miles of the home office, is expected. Short-term, out-of-town assignments lasting less than 2 weeks are probable, with occasional long-term assignments requiring advance notice.Special RequirementsPossession of a valid state driver's license.Ability to meet insurance requirements set by the corporation.Other DutiesPlease note that this job description does not encompass all potential responsibilities.
