Meta's Core AI Research team within the Reality Labs organization is seeking a Research Scientist Intern with a focus on on-device contextual AI. As a Research Scientist Intern, your primary objective is to develop cutting-edge on-device foundation models and algorithms in AI Research. We are seeking candidates to work on foundation model optimization, specifically on-device language/vision-language LLMs. Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) weeks long and we offer various start dates throughout the year.Required Skills:Research Scientist Intern, Foundation Model Optimization (PhD) Responsibilities:Perform on-device foundation model research that leads to publications in top-tier CV/ML conferencesDevelop model optimization algorithms and infrastructure to enable deployment of models in resource-constrained settings, such as mobile phones and AR/VR/MR/SG devicesCollaborate with cross-disciplinary research and engineering teamsMinimum Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Currently is in the process of obtaining a PhD in the field of Artificial Intelligence or related fieldHands-on experience in deep learning algorithms and techniques, e.g., transformers3+ years experience with deep learning software libraries such as PyTorch/JAXExperience with scripting languages such as Python and shell scriptsMust obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employmentPreferred Qualifications:Preferred Qualifications:Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internshipExperience with large scale foundation model training and on-device foundation model optimizationProven track record of publications at CV/ML conferences/journals such as NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, AAAIInterpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaborationPublic Compensation:$7,650/month to $12,134/month + benefitsIndustry: InternetEqual Opportunity:Meta is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
