Job SummaryDuties include curriculum design and development; instruction, recruitment, and advisement ofstudents; budgeting; and management of adjunct faculty. Responsible for the ongoing development,implementation, and instruction of the Plumbing and Pipefitting program courses across multiplecampuses. The program director will teach at least 20 contact hours of day or evening instructionalcourses per semester. Courses will be a combination of face-to-face, online, or hybrid as necessary.Duties also include participation in college committees and participation in professionalenhancement. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintainssupplies and equipment and prepares budget requests. Prepares and maintains all requireddocumentation and administrative reports. Meets with students, staff members, and other educators todiscuss students' instructional programs and other issues. Assists with recruitment, retention, jobplacement efforts, and duties as otherwise assigned.Essential Functions:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essentialfunctions.Instruction:• Teaches program-specific courses in a classroom/lab/online environment that closely simulatesthe industry's environment while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments inthe field.• Evaluation and advisement of students in a classroom/lab/online setting• Works with Associate Dean to create course schedulesSafety/Technology• Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the discipline area, which includes regularsafety audits of each program area and lab• Supports faculty to ensure all equipment is in working order• Suggests new/updated technology to remain current with trends and developments within thefield.• Ensure students are instructed in and follow all safety rules for operating equipment and usingtools.• Ensure classrooms and work areas are properly cleaned and always maintained• Ensure work-related projects are completed and that they meet industrial standards.Curriculum/Student and Program Learning Outcomes• Develops program curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives based on state standards; prepareslesson plans for instruction for division-specific program courses; evaluates students' progressin attaining goals and objectives.• Establishes, measures, and evaluates program or departmental student learning outcomes andensures content and instructional activities are integrated into course delivery to result instudents achieving desired outcomes. Documents their attainment and reports within theTaskstream system.• Responsible for development and course edits to Blackboard master course shells.• Periodic revision and selection of course materials, including textbooks, instructionalsupplements and aids, and online educational resources• Review and revision of program handbooks/manuals• Coordinates, reviews, and recommends program expenditures for program needs withinestablished budget parameters and administrative procedures.• Oversees program budget and approves purchase requisitions for supplies and equipment.Accreditation/Program Assessment• Maintains appropriate accreditation for the program; has current knowledge of accreditationpolicies and procedures• Attends program IFCC meetings.• Maintains assurance of effective program operations and manages ongoing programassessment.• Manages all adjunct program faculty; completes evaluation and observation of adjunct faculty;participates in training all full-time faculty.Supports Discipline/Division• Plans and participates in program advisory committee, ensures minutes, Plan of Work, andcommittee membership list are uploaded to Knightro Connect promptly.• Consult with the appropriate Dean or Associate Dean on full-time and adjunct faculty staffingneeds.• Assists with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.• Position may require committee and project assignments or other duties as assigned, as well asday/evening/distance learning classes and activities.• Acquires/Maintains professional certifications• Plans, holds regularly scheduled faculty meetings within departmentCompetencies• Knowledge of best practices, rules, and testing needs.• Ability to break larger tasks into manageable smaller tasks.• Oral and written communication skills.• Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.• Skill in accurate recordkeeping.• Organizational skills.• Skills in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.• Decision-making and problem-solving skills.Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional classroom/lab/clinical environment. This role routinely usesstandard office/classroom/lab equipment and technologies.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet tosuccessfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit; usehands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talkor hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move classroom/lab equipment and supplies up to 25pounds.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time instructional/administrative position. The workload is Monday through Friday,day/evening hours, with weekends based on need.TravelTravel to other campuses and sites is required.Minimum Qualifications:• Diploma in Plumbing and Pipefitting Technology from an accredited institution• Ga Certified Construction Industry Licensing Board (GCILB) Master Plumbing License orCBILB Journeyman Plumber• Three (3) years out of the past seven (7) years of direct industry experience• Three (3) years of Supervisory Experience• Valid Driver's LicensePreferred Qualifications:• Associate degree in a related field• Ten (10) + years of in-field experience• Directly Related Teaching experience at the post-secondary level• Additional Industry certifications• Knowledge of discipline-specific state standards• Knowledge and experience in the use of the Internet, Email, Windows, Microsoft Office, KMS,Blackboard, Banner, TaskStreamOther Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities,duties, or responsibilities required of the employee for this job.
