Let us show you why Crete Carrier is central to the transportation industry As a Diesel Tractor and Trailer Mechanic, you will: Inspect, diagnose, and repair brake systems, engines, electrical systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, drive trains, and tires for tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units. Perform routine maintenance services, such as oil changes, fluid checks, battery inspections, light tests, and equipment lubrication. Foster and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues. Follow instructions accurately and diligently. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Effective communication skills. Understanding of skilled trades, such as automotive or diesel mechanics. Strong electrical and diagnostic capabilities. Ability to read, write, communicate, and perform basic math; capable of lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds as needed. Proficient with computers and software applications. Education and Experience: An Associate's degree or 1-2 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: ASE certification and DOT inspection certification as required by your supervisor. EPA Certification for Federal Clean Air Act 609 and 608 as required by your supervisor or location. A valid driver's license as mandated by your supervisor; CDL Class A preferred. Additional Requirements: Must have personal tools. Safety shoes (steel or composite toe) are required. Work Environment: This position involves exposure to outdoor weather conditions, vibration, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, and high noise levels.
