Banquet Captain

Principle Responsibilities / Position Purpose The Banquet Captain I is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the Private Events Space at Funky Buddha Brewery with a focus on exceptional guest service. The Banquet Captain I oversees all aspects of the event in the absence of the Banquet Captain, including set-up, serving, and cleanup. Banquet Captains are responsible for helping with training and coaching the banquet staff and managing the client the day of the event. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner. Comply at all times with the standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient banquet operations. Assist as necessary in the setup, service, and breakdown of banquet functions. Keep kitchen informed of accurate counts for plating. Review menu/service with the Banquets Director and Executive Chef as needed. Maintain up to date details on banquet functions and communicate to staff and all necessary personnel. Respond to guests' requests as needed. Responsible for safety, sanitation, and cleanliness of service areas. Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with employees and other departments. Ensure that pre-shift meetings are conducted for all functions. Control and audit alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Supervise and observe the performance of hourly service personnel. Responsible for control and maintenance of all service equipment. Control Beer flow in and out of the Private Event Space with inventory logs. Knows and adheres to health and sanitation guidelines and follows all safety policies. Updates job knowledge by participating in staff training opportunities. Funky Buddha Brewery provides the required PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly to your Manager. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS No positions directly report to this position. SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Possess a valid State of Florida approved server training certification and/or be willing to successfully complete training provided by Funky Buddha Brewery. Strong knowledge of banquet operations and service procedures. Strong communication and customer service skills. Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours). Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 30 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds. Punctual and regular, reliable attendance. Honesty and Integrity. Knows and adheres to health and sanitation guidelines and follows all safety policies Excellent customer service skills Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team Ability to work quickly, problem solve and think on your feet while maintaining poise in a fast-paced environment. Passion for the service industry, desire to be part of a team and work hard, high level of self-awareness and long-term view of success. Well-versed in: beer history; brewing techniques; preparation techniques, styles, flavor profiles or possess a willingness to learn. Must be at least 21 years old. Qualified to run events for 125 guests and less QUALIFICATION STANDARDS EDUCATION High School diploma preferred. EXPERIENCE Prior banquet serving experience preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Craft beer experience preferred. LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES ServSafe certificate required. GROOMING All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. OTHER Additional language ability preferred.
