Ultimately, the MRI Technologist helps improve patient outcomes by providing precise and timely imaging results in a compassionate and professional manner.Minimum Qualifications:Completion of an accredited MRI Technologist program.Current certification as an MRI Technologist (e.g., ARRT MRI certification).Valid state licensure to practice as an MRI Technologist in Oregon.Demonstrated knowledge of MRI safety protocols and patient care standards.Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in an outpatient imaging center or hospital setting.Additional certifications in advanced MRI techniques or related imaging modalities.Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and imaging software.Bilingual abilities to assist a diverse patient population.Continuing education in the latest MRI technology and imaging practices.Responsibilities:Prepare and position patients appropriately for MRI procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.Operate MRI scanners to capture high-quality diagnostic images according to prescribed protocols.Monitor patients during imaging to detect any adverse reactions or discomfort and respond accordingly.Maintain and calibrate MRI equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.Review images for quality and completeness before submitting them to radiologists for interpretation.Maintain accurate patient records and document procedures in compliance with healthcare regulations.Collaborate with healthcare team members to discuss imaging results and assist in patient care planning.Adhere to infection control policies and radiation safety guidelines to protect patients and staff.Skills:The MRI Technologist utilizes technical skills daily to operate complex MRI machinery and adjust imaging parameters to capture precise diagnostic images. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for explaining procedures to patients, alleviating their concerns, and ensuring cooperation during scans. Attention to detail is critical when reviewing images for quality and documenting patient information accurately.
