Feed Ingredient Merchandiser

Overall Job Function:The Ingredient Merchandiser works with the Feed Division in the procurement and merchandising of bulk feed ingredients for the cooperative's feed mills and direct-ship customers. This role requires strong relationship management with suppliers and mill personnel, market knowledge, and the ability to identify opportunities that enhance the company's profitability.Essential Job Functions:Procures bulk ingredients for feed mills and direct-ship customers.Track and monitor daily feed ingredient inventories across various feed mills.Helps establish competitive ingredient pricing into feed formulations.Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of bulk agricultural commodity markets with strong negotiating/trading skills.Manages inbound logistics of bulk ingredients, coordinating with suppliers and contract haulers.Identifies and executes arbitrage opportunities to improve company profitability.Works within accounting software to analyze, record, and account for all ingredient purchases and sales.Develops and maintains strong relationships with mill personnel, ingredient suppliers, and freight partners.Understand and comply with risk management procedures, managing cash and futures positions on ingredients.Assists accounting department as needed or as requested by supervisor; participates in "special projects."Performs other duties as assigned..Secondary Responsibilities:Understands the business implications of decisions and acts as an ambassador for the organization.Synthesizes complex or diverse information effectively.Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.Handles stressful situations with flexibility and adaptability to frequent changes in routine, while remaining positive and calm under pressure.Competencies:High level of customer service focus.Observes safety policy and procedure as an absolute.Team Player, understanding the greater value of the team over individual achievementsWork ethic of the highest integrity.Commitment to dependability and willingness to work to meet goals and deadline.Organized and detail oriented.Good verbal and written communication skills.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in agriculture or agri-business related field.Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills.Technology Acumen Including Microsoft Software, Tablet Computer Use, Ag Aps, etc.Minimum of 3 Years of grain industry, agri-business or related field.Work Requirements:This position will flex time between an office setting and mill. Office equipment utilized will be computer, tablet, phone, fax, copy machine and other standard office equipment. While in a mill, employee will be exposed to elements, loud noise, agricultural equipment, outside weather conditions and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate but occasionally may be loud. PPE will be provided and must be utilized when applicable and according to safety standards. Typical working hours are 7am to 5pm Monday through Friday but will flex based on customer and organizational demand.While performing job functions the employee will be required to talk and hear most of the time. The employee will spend frequent intervals moving and sitting, while also needing to reach, bend, twist, crawl, crouch, stoop or kneel. The employee will need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently.
