Job DescriptionEnsuring secure communication is vital for military operations. As a Radio and Communications Security Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating the essential equipment and systems that enable secure communication for units. Your work will play a critical role in safeguarding information.Your responsibilities will include installing and repairing circuits and wiring, calibrating equipment components, and stringing overhead cables. Additionally, you will conduct equipment tests, execute repairs, and perform preventive maintenance checks to ensure functionality and security of these crucial systems.As you progress to an advanced role, you will handle more intricate tasks such as training and supervising fellow Soldiers, conducting equipment tests, performing complex repairs, and ensuring compliance with National Security Agency-approved components used in secure communications. Key Duties- Utilize diagnostic tools and manuals to troubleshoot and repair communication equipment. Skills You'll Develop- Knowledge of communication security policy and procedures. Helpful Skills- Strong attention to detail. Through comprehensive training, you will gain valuable skills that prepare you for a rewarding civilian career in radio repair, mechanics, or installation.Earn While You LearnInstead of incurring debt to gain these skills, you will earn a paycheck while training. The Army National Guard provides hands-on training, enabling you to acquire essential skills while supporting your financial needs. After completing 10 weeks of Basic Training for fundamental Soldiering skills, you will attend 16 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) with in-depth classroom instruction and practical exercises. Here, you will learn mechanical, electronic, and electrical principles as well as maintenance and security procedures.
