Job Title: Veterinary Surgical Technician/ Treatment Technician Location: Animal Hospital of Dauphin County Job Type: Full time Schedule: Monday-Friday, Saturday Rotation Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Surgical Technician to join our surgical team. The Surgical Technician is responsible for assisting veterinarians during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring the safety and comfort of animal patients throughout the surgical process. This role is vital in supporting high-quality veterinary care in a fast-paced clinical setting. Key Responsibilities: Prepare surgical suites with proper instruments, supplies, and sterile equipment Assist veterinarians during surgeries, including monitoring anesthesia and vital signs Induce and monitor anesthesia under veterinary supervision Maintain sterile techniques and ensure aseptic procedures are followed Prepare patients for surgery (e.g., shaving, scrubbing, intubation) Monitor animals during pre-op, intra-op, and post-op phases Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment Maintain accurate and detailed surgical records Ensure proper recovery and pain management for post-surgical patients Communicate effectively with the veterinary team regarding patient care and progress Assist with client education regarding post-operative instructions when needed Care for hospitalized patients Assist with urgent care appointments Assist with Technician appointments Qualifications: Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT, LVT, or RVT) preferred Minimum [X] years of experience in veterinary surgical assistance or technician role Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring and surgical preparation Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterile field protocols Ability to lift animals and equipment (up to [weight] lbs) and stand for long periods Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills Compassionate and calm under pressure, especially in emergency situations Preferred Qualifications: Experience in specialty surgery or emergency/critical care Familiarity with electronic medical records and surgical software Fear-Free or Low-Stress Handling certification a plus Benefits: Competitive hourly wage or salary Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Continuing education (CE) allowance Uniform allowance Staff pet care discounts Supportive and collaborative team environment
