TEACHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid Missouri Teacher Certification for Physical Education REPORTS TO: Building Principal JOB DESCRIPTION:We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Physical Education (PE) Teacher for our elementary school to foster a love for physical activity and promote healthy lifestyle habits among our students. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for fitness, sports, and education, with the ability to engage and motivate students in various physical activities.Responsibilities: Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive PE curriculum aligned with state standards and school objectives, incorporating age-appropriate activities, games, and exercises to enhance students' physical fitness and skills development. Instruction: Deliver engaging and interactive PE lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, while fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth among students. Skill Instruction: Teach fundamental movement skills, sports techniques, and strategies, providing individualized instruction and feedback to help students improve their proficiency and confidence in various physical activities. Fitness Education: Educate students about the importance of physical fitness, nutrition, and overall wellness through classroom discussions, demonstrations, and practical experiences, emphasizing the benefits of leading a healthy and active lifestyle. Safety: Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment by enforcing safety guidelines, supervising students during activities, and demonstrating proper techniques to prevent injuries and promote risk management. Assessment: Assess students' progress and performance in PE through various methods, such as skill assessments, fitness tests, and participation evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to guide their development and achievement. Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community partners to promote the integration of PE into the overall school curriculum, organize extracurricular sports programs, and coordinate school-wide events, such as field days and fitness challenges. Professional Development: Stay current with trends and best practices in physical education by participating in professional development opportunities, attending workshops or conferences, and continuously seeking ways to enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Osage County R-2 has a 4 day school week. 147 School Days 10 Contracted PD days 7 Paid Holidays (Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, day after Thanksgiving, December 24, December 25, December 31, and January 1) Total: 164 contracted daysEVALUATOR: Building principal
