Position SummaryTechnician II is a mid-level installer responsible for independently performing copper terminations, device installations, cable routing, and testing. This role supports Leads and Tech III, ensures quality workmanship, and helps mentor entry-level technicians while contributing to efficient project execution.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCable Installation & Pathways• Independently install Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A, coax, fiber drops, speaker, and control cabling.• Route and secure cable in J-hooks, ladder tray, conduit, walls, and raised floor systems.• Perform clean cable dressing, bundling, and Velcro fastening according to standards.• Install back boxes, brackets, device rings, faceplates, and hardware with minimal supervision.Terminations &Testing• Terminate jacks, patch panels, and connectors independently.• Use certifiers (Fluke or equivalent) to validate performance compliance.• Perform tone/probe tracing, identify misroutes, and correct labeling errors.• Document test results and notify senior techs of issues.Equipment &Tools• Operate drills, drivers, saws, and low-voltage tools safely and proficiently.• Maintain tool accountability and ensure proper care of test equipment.Worksite Responsibilities• Maintain safety and cleanliness across assigned work areas.• Assist Leads with staging materials and verifying BOM needs.• Represent the company professionally around clients, trades, and inspectors.Teamwork & Communication• Provide guidance to Tech I personnel and help train them on fundamentals.• Communicate installation status, issues, and task completion to Leads.• Follow established best practices and project standards consistently.Qualifications - Required• 1-2 years structured cabling experience.• Proficiency in copper terminations and cable routing.• Ability to read basic floor plans and labeling diagrams.• Strong understanding of basic TIA/EIA standards.• Basic fiber prep experience (Preferred)• Experience installing devices such as cameras, WAPs, card readers.
