To provide leadership, coordination, and innovation in effectivesheltered content instruction for students not yet proficient in English and not enrolled in anintensive sheltered English immersion class.Performance Responsibilities:1. Coordinate, with the Director of Professional Development, opportunities for all teachersto develop the skills and knowledge necessary to support English language learners.2. Participate in a DESE-sponsored MLL/DLE work group to develop a document template andexemplars to guide the development of an MLL/DLE curriculum at the district level.3. Coordinate the continued development of an MLL/DLE K-12 curriculum.4. Recommend district policies and procedures to support both sheltered English immersionclasses and effective sheltered content instruction for students not yet enrolled in anintensive sheltered English immersion class.5. Assist with the identification and acquisition of appropriate curriculum materials forEnglish language learnersRequired Qualifications:1. Possession of a valid Massachusetts educator's license;2. Must possess or meet prerequisites for Supervisor/Director license;3. Working knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and the stateassessments, including Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS),WIDA, and ACCESS;4. Knowledge and understanding of effective educational practices and research-basedstrategies for improving learning;5. Successful experience helping others shift to more effective educational practice;6. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; and7. Excellent time management, organizational, human relations and interpersonal skills.The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determinethat there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification.
