DescriptionJob Title: Food Service SupervisorDepartment: DetentionReports To: Detention DirectorFLSA Status: ExemptSALARY: $55,728 annual salary paid semi-monthlyThis job posting closes on December 12, 2025, at 12:00 a.m.Description of essential duties and responsibilities:• Prepares menus on a monthly basis that meet the nationally recommended food allowances and Nutritional School Lunch Program requirements. Completes daily menu production records and maintains an ongoing file of nutritional labels for review by state and federal agencies. Ensures that the minimum daily food requirements are being met for each meal.• Maintains records of all commodity products. Meets annually with commodity representative to ensure the proper use and storage of commodity items. Establish measures to forecast annual utilization for commodity item.• Must maintain perpetual inventory on all United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) commodities.• Meets quarterly with dietician for review and approval of daily menus.• Orders, inventories, monitors and records all food, supply and equipment purchases. Collects and accounts for all invoices and receipts for disposition to office manager at end of month. Orders, purchases and stocks all food meeting the daily menu requirement.• Collects all invoices and receipts and forwards them to the Receiving Officer.• Adheres to kitchen budgetary guidelines and provisions as established by Assistant Director.• Prepares, develops and monitors the utilization of standardize recipes by kitchen personnel for servicing and preparation of meals to residents and staff. Monitors and documents preparation of special diets and meals for residents with medical or religious dietary restrictions.• Completes and conducts health, food, sanitary and safety inspections. Maintains daily logs of temperature for all freezers/refrigerators and physical plant.• Prepares all meals and snacks for staff and residents of detention, sanctions, group home and alternative school.• Prepares food for special events in the facility.• Maintains and monitors kitchen sanitation and ensures that food service meets all health standards.• Supervises all kitchen personnel including completing performance evaluations, scheduling, training and making recommendations for disciplinary actions, hiring and terminations.• Incorporates facility security procedures into the kitchen program.• Counts and logs all utensils at least twice for every meal served to detention residents.• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and or directed by Assistant Director and or designee.• Comes to work on a regular full-time basisQualifications for position:• Must have at least four years of experience in food services with at least one year of experience as a supervisor• Must have food handler's licenses or be able to obtain food handler's licenses within 90 days of accepting food service supervisor position.• Must be able to fulfill state requirements for auxiliary staff.• Must pass background screening, drug and alcohol screening.Supervisory relationships: This position reports directly to the Director of Detention; this position is responsible for supervising all kitchen personnel.Skills and knowledge required: Must have working knowledge of the National School Lunch Program and the Child Nutrition Program and be able to administer it. Must be able to stand on his/her feet for an entire eight-hour shift.Prior experience required: See qualifications for positionPersonal qualities: Individual should have sufficient interpersonal skills to work closely with kitchen staff, detention/sanctions, group home and alternative school personnel, outside agencies and residents/detainees.Amount of travel and other special conditions or requirements: Some local travel to purchase kitchen/food items.Work Schedule: Required 40-hour workweek; flexible and must be available to cover for staff shortages to include weekends and holidaysThis job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019.
