As an Diesel Engine Mechanic , you will assist our fleet and outside trucks by diagnosing and repairing issues with vehicles' performance and function.As an Diesel Engine Mechanic, you must have an in-depth understanding of all vehicle systems and components. You will also be responsible for maintaining repair shop equipment, preparing cost estimates, and maintaining a welcoming environment.The ideal candidate is skilled in communicating with customers, able to explain vehicle issues clearly and concisely and provide valuable advice.ResponsibilitiesInspecting and repairing vehicles with diesel enginesRunning diagnostic testsHandling routine repairs, including oil and tire changesInterpreting diagnostic test resultsWriting detailed inspection reports and repair plansManaging a team of traineesCollaborating with other diesel mechanicsPresenting reports and plans to clients for approvalQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED is requiredAssociate degree or completion of an automotive service technician training program is preferredAutomotive Service Excellence/ASE certification or Society of Automotive Engineers/SAE certification is preferredStrong customer service and communication skills are required
