The Pharmacist maintains established departmental policies and procedures and complies with department objectives.Licensing/CertificationMaintains current license for pharmacist in the state(s) where practicing (required)EducationGraduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS or PharmD (required)Advanced pharmacy degree - Doctor of Pharmacy, Masters, Residency (preferred)Work ExperienceExperience in field of pharmacy practice (required)One year of experience in field of pharmacy practice (preferred)TrainingExhibit proficient use of all computer hardware and software (required)Essential Job FunctionsProcess orders and provide medication review for appropriateness, safety and efficacy during order processing and perform any necessary clinical support duties as neededEnsure accurate preparation of compounded and non-compounded products to include safe handling that is consistent with regulationsOversee distributive functions of the pharmacy department to facilitate accurate and timely medication availability to patients/staffOversee pharmacy technicians and support personnel activities based on department needMaintain responsibility and accountability for the security of pharmacy inventory based on department needIdentify, document, and resolve potential and actual adverse medication events and may evaluate reports in event reporting system for trending and prevention purposesPerform medication education to improve patient understanding and adherence consistent with department guidanceWork collaboratively and effectively to communicate verbally and in writing with pharmacy team members, healthcare providers, patients, caregivers, and leadersParticipate in departmental medication safety, quality assurance, drug utilization reviews, drug dosing, infection prevention, student precepting and other activities based on department needMust be able to travel between locations, as needed.
