As an Environmental Compliance Specialist, you'll be a strategic partner to operations, guiding environmental programs that protect air, water, and land while driving continuous improvement. You'll lead initiatives that ensure regulatory alignment, empower employees through training, and shape a culture of environmental excellence across our manufacturing footprint.What You'll DoProvide expert guidance on local, state, and federal environmental regulationsDevelop and implement management systems to ensure compliance across assigned programsLead permitting processes and create site-specific environmental protection plansDeliver engaging training to build awareness and ownership of environmental responsibilitiesMonitor and analyze performance metrics related to air, water, land, waste, and wetlandsConduct assessments and audits to identify risks and improvement opportunitiesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to embed environmental priorities into operationsRepresent Charter Steel in interactions with regulatory agenciesSupport facility management plans and coordinate the Radiation Safety ProgramChampion continuous improvement through data-driven action plans and team leadershipWhat You BringMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Environmental Management, Science, Engineering, or related field3+ years of environmental experience in a manufacturing settingStrong problem-solving skills and initiativeDetail-oriented multitasker with excellent organizational abilitiesEffective communicator with strong presentation and training skillsProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and basic web toolsSolid understanding of EPA and state environmental standardsCollaborative team player with strong interpersonal skillsPreferred Qualifications:Experience in steel or heavy manufacturing environmentsFamiliarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management SystemsExposure to Six Sigma or Lean methodologiesExperience working with regulatory agenciesWhy Join Charter Steel?Be part of a company where environmental responsibility is woven into our operationsMake a meaningful impact by shaping sustainable practices and protecting natural resourcesGrow your career through leadership opportunities and professional developmentWe offer comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits, along with a 401(k) plan that includes employer matching and profit sharing.
