Join us in making a positive impact MobilizeGreen, in partnership with the USDA Forest Service, is seeking a dedicated Youth Conservation crew leader for our 2026 summer program. This role involves co-leading a team of high-school youth in conservation-related projects, environmental education, and leadership development activities over two 3-week sessions. The program aims to inspire environmental stewardship and develop future leaders through hands-on teamwork and community engagement. As a crew leader, you'll manage student and group safety, facilitate camping excursions, and oversee personal development activities while building your leadership skills. You will represent MobilizeGreen on-site and coordinate directly with partners on various projects. Note that specific dates for the 2026 program are yet to be confirmed, but we encourage you to apply as we accept applications on a rolling basis. Term:8 total weeks, Late May - Early August, 2026 8 days crew leader training: TBD Leading cohort 1: TBD 1 week off Leading cohort 2: TBD 3-day reporting/admin work: TBD Benefits: $800 per week living stipend Travel, housing, and living expenses covered for the program duration Meals provided throughout the program Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR certification included Defensive Driving Training Hands-on training with specialized tools Mentorship and teaching experience Networking opportunities with USDA Forest Service staff and land management experts Duties and Responsibilities: Crew Management: Supervise crew members during activities, projects, and at housing. Ensure a safe environment as per MobilizeGreen's Field Operations Standards and COVID policies. Work collaboratively with the co-leader to manage group dynamics. Conduct environmental education and team-building lessons on off-project days. Participate in on-call overnight duty on rotation. Service Project Advisor: Train and supervise crew in safe and effective tool use for service projects, including trail construction and wildlife habitat work. Coordinate worksite logistics, tool maintenance, and project schedules with the Project Leader and USDA Forest Service staff. Maintain program equipment and tools used in projects. Program Administrator: Handle administrative tasks, including pre- and post-program paperwork, daily logs, incident reports, and evaluations. Communicate with MobilizeGreen and housing staff regarding incidents, hazards, and evaluations. Additional Responsibilities: Adhere to MobilizeGreen's Field Operations Standards, including a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy. Effective communication with staff, parents, agency partners, and co-leaders. Full participation in crew leader orientation and safety training. Build positive relationships with agency partners and maintain a trustworthy environment for crew members. Complete required weekly and post-program paperwork, including an end-of-program debrief. Requirements: Current First Aid/CPR Certification or willingness to obtain this before program start (training provided). Documented experience working with youth (ages 14-18) as a leader, mentor, or educator. Experience in teaching or leadership within educational contexts. Familiarity with outdoor skills, including hiking, camping, and safety practices. Experience in service projects, conservation work, and proper tool usage. A valid driver's license with no major violations in the last 3 years. Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening. Must be 21 years or older and a U.S. citizen or legally able to work in the U.S. Work Environment and Physical Demands: This position involves physically demanding work. Crew leaders must be equipped to handle strenuous conditions, including steep terrain and lifting up to 40 pounds. Accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Leaders will work a rotating schedule for projects, administrative tasks, and will be on-call 24/7 to ensure member safety and well-being.
