In order to expand its current footprint in the Providence and Southcoast market, DarrowEverett LLP is looking to hire an Associate Attorney for our Litigation Department with immediate availability. The candidate must have excellent communication and administrative skills, be highly organized and detail-oriented, be able to multitask without sacrificing efficiency, be responsible, and be able to represent the firm and its clients in ways that enhance its reputation. Candidates should desire to work in a collegial environment and grow their practice.Qualified candidates must be prepared to handle cases from inception through trial, including drafting discovery pleadings and motions, and taking and defending depositions. A strong record of academic achievement, proven research and writing skills, and a talent for advocacy in the courtroom are minimum requirements. Attorneys must be licensed to practice in Rhode Island and/or Massachusetts and be a member of the bar in good standing.Role & Responsibilities:Minimum 1-3 years of litigation experience in state and federal courtsAble to participate in all aspects of the firm's professional activities, including client intake, trial preparation, etc.Ability to handle litigation matters from inception through trial with minimal supervisionExperience with drafting complex pleadings, motions, as well as arguing discovery and dispositive motions. Formulate and develop case strategy, advise clients on risk mitigation, and pre-suit resolution optionsConducts research, interviews clients, and witnesses and handles other details for comprehensive case managementMediation and AAA, and other arbitration experience is preferablePerform complex legal research; experience with Westlaw and other legal research tools is requiredQualifications:Strong oral and written communication skillsKnowledge of the laws and rules, as well as state and federal court proceduresAbility to handle sensitive matters on a confidential basisA high degree of initiative, mature judgment, and discretionOrganization and time management skillsCompensation:Salary commensurate with skillsMedical, Dental, Vision Insurance401K with employee match contributionsGenerous holiday and vacation schedulesDarrowEverett LLP is an ever-growing successful middle-market firm with offices in Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
