Cheer Coach

Job Title: High School Cheer Coach Department: CCSU Athletics Reports To: Athletic Director(s) Employment Type: Seasonal Position Summary The High School Cheer Coach is responsible for leading and developing the cheerleading program within the CCSU Athletics high school system. The coach will provide leadership, instruction, and mentorship to student-athletes, promoting school spirit, teamwork, and personal growth. This position ensures the safe and positive development of all participants and upholds the mission and values of CCSU Athletics and the school community. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Plan, organize, and conduct regular cheer practices, conditioning sessions, and team meetings. • Choreograph and teach cheer, stunt, and dance routines for athletic events, pep rallies, and competitions. • Attend and supervise all practices, games, and special events. • Promote academic success, sportsmanship, and positive team culture. • Ensure compliance with AACCA/USA Cheer safety standards, the VPA and school policies. • Manage equipment, uniforms, and fundraising activities. • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school staff. • Maintain current CPR, First Aid, and safety certifications. Qualifications Required: • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills. • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and attend athletic events. • Current CPR, First Aid, and AACCA/USA Cheer safety certification (or ability to obtain prior to start). Preferred: • Previous cheerleading coaching experience (high school, youth, or competitive level). • Strong understanding of cheerleading techniques, stunting, and tumbling fundamentals.. • Experience developing spirit programs or mentoring student-athletes.
