Our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group is committed to supporting federal, public, private, and international organizations with construction services that meet community needs. With exceptional project management, design-build expertise, and sustainability solutions, we collaborate to tackle environmental and infrastructure challenges. The ideal candidate will join our Construction Engineering and Inspection team and be responsible for inspecting and monitoring construction activities at various field sites. Based primarily in Fairmont, WV, inspection tasks will consist mainly of routine and standardized processes, working under the direct supervision of experienced inspectors and engineers. This role requires knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment in highway construction, along with basic geometry and mathematics. The ability to read and interpret construction plans, contract provisions, and specifications is essential. Key Responsibilities: Conduct inspections on traffic control, environmental safeguards, layout, construction methods, and materials, all under close supervision. Assess the day-to-day work performed by contractors, reviewing their daily reports and recommending approval or rejection. Ensure contractor's quality control procedures comply with the approved Quality Control Plan. Evaluate material testing methods and results for contract compliance, as well as measure quantities of materials placed. You may need to perform sampling and in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt pavement. Qualifications: Candidates should possess a High School diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license. Entry-level applicants are welcome, as experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
