Spartanburg School District TwoJOB DESCRIPTIONTITLE: K-2 Multi-Categorical Special Education TeacherFLSA: ExemptGENERAL SUMMARY:As a Multi-Categorical Special Education Teacher, you will play a key role in helping students with unique learning needs grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Your classroom will be a place of encouragement, support, and individualized instruction designed to help every student succeed.REPORTS TOBuilding level principal.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops engaging lesson plans tailored to students' abilities, needs, and interests. Utilizes a variety of instructional methods and materials to support student learning. Creates a safe and structured classroom environment where students thrive. Regularly assesses student progress and adjusts instruction accordingly. Collaborates with other educators, specialists, and support staff to create effective learning strategies. Communicates with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress. Supervises and guides instructional aides and volunteers. Maintains accurate student records and comply with district, state, and federal requirements. Supports and upholds school policies, fostering a positive and inclusive environment. Participates in professional development opportunities to stay up to date on best practices. Performs other related duties as required. JOB SPECIFICATIONSEducation and Experience: Education and experience as required by state certification authorities. SC Certification as Special Education Multicategorical (21) Knowledge: Knowledge of the policies, procedures and activities of the school district which pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Knowledge in the methods for developing lesson plans and materials, and classroom activities which stimulate learning. Knowledge of Special Services records, forms and reports which must be prepared and maintained. Knowledge of Special Services materials and information which must be prepared for classroom instructional activities. Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training. Working Conditions:Conducts duties in a classroom environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention and working with students. Physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring lifting/moving of items up to 25 pounds. Occasional local travel is required; no overnight travel is required.
