Position Overview: Join our dynamic construction operations team as a Heavy Equipment Repair Specialist. In this crucial role, you will leverage your extensive experience to diagnose, repair, and maintain a diverse range of heavy machinery, including dozers, excavators, backhoes, telehandlers, and various diesel-powered and hydraulic systems. We are looking for a dedicated professional who prioritizes safety and efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Conduct thorough inspections and troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, undercarriages, braking systems, and electrical components. Perform regular preventative maintenance and safety checks on heavy equipment to minimize downtime. Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to effectively identify mechanical issues and develop repair strategies. Utilize specialized tools and computerized diagnostic software for machinery servicing. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used. Collaborate with fleet managers, supervisors, and equipment operators to address performance concerns. Operate heavy equipment to validate repairs and ensure functionality. Adhere to safety protocols and comply with OSHA, DOT, and company safety regulations. Be available for after-hours emergency repairs and weekend callouts as necessary to support operational needs. Qualifications: Hands-on experience with heavy equipment brands such as Caterpillar, John Deere, and Komatsu. Welding and fabrication skills are a plus. Possession of a CDL or capacity to safely operate heavy equipment for testing and relocation. Requirements: High school diploma or GED; technical/trade school certification in diesel or heavy equipment repair preferred. A minimum of 5 years' experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic in a construction or industrial environment. Proficient in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic and diesel systems. Ownership of necessary tools for heavy equipment repair. Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain). Physical capability to lift up to 75 lbs, bend, kneel, climb and work in varying field conditions. Strong communication and organizational skills. Physical and Environmental Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside various buildings, exposing the employee to elements including dirt, dust, heat, cold, noise, vibration, and other environmental factors. Physical tasks involve standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, crawling, bending, twisting, and lifting occasionally over 80 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision and adjusted focus. Regular exposure to potential mechanical, chemical, electrical, and fire hazards is expected.
