Summary This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, Ysleta Station. As a Lead Border Patrol Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our nation's borders and enhancing security efforts. Duties In this exciting leadership role, you will leverage your expertise to: Direct and oversee the operations of subordinate Border Patrol Agents and specialized units. Implement strategies to prevent the illegal entry of individuals into the United States by land, water, or air. Pursue and apprehend smugglers and illegal aliens within the U.S. Enforce criminal provisions of Immigration and Nationality laws effectively. Supervise team members, managing leave requests, handling disciplinary issues, and conducting annual performance evaluations. Requirements Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply. Individuals born male after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service. Must have primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years. All pre-employment processes will be conducted in English. Must undergo and pass a thorough background investigation and/or polygraph examination. Adhere to the DHS Drug-Free Workplace Plan for drug testing procedures. Must meet job-related medical and fitness standards. Medical Requirements: Following a tentative job offer, candidates must complete a medical screening process to ensure capability in performing essential job functions safely and efficiently. Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. This includes: Interpreting and enforcing immigration laws. Gathering and analyzing intelligence from diverse sources. Developing case work for criminal investigations. Identifying and investigating smuggling operations. Proposing effective solutions to operational challenges. Ensuring compliance with enforcement practices. This role requires proficiency in law enforcement practices including making arrests, exercising sound judgment, and maintaining relationships with informants. Additional Information: This position has rigorous law enforcement officer retirement coverage. Must be proficient in Spanish. Firearms qualification is required. Must be capable of operating government vehicles. Willingness to work shift work and overtime as needed. Overnight travel may be required. Must adhere to uniform and grooming standards. May require a Secret level security clearance.
