Faculty in our department lead cutting-edge programs in microbial pathogenesis, antibiotic resistance, vaccine development, and emerging infectious diseases, supported by state-of-the-art core facilities and collaborative centers such as the Alkek Center for Metagenomics and Microbiome Research. Successful candidates will develop and maintain an externally funded research program, contribute to graduate education, and engage in interdisciplinary collaborations that advance Baylor's mission of research, education, and service.Position Summary:The Senior Faculty position in Molecular Virology and Microbiology will lead an independent research program focused on antibiotic resistance, secure external funding, and contribute to the Department's academic mission through teaching and mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The role includes publishing high-quality research, fostering collaborations, and participating in departmental service and educational activities.Job DutiesResearch: Plan, direct, and manage an independent research program. Compete for external research funding (NIH, NSF, foundations). Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national/international conferences. Build collaborative research relationships within BCM and externally. Education & Mentorship: Teach graduate-level courses and deliver lectures as assigned. Supervise graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Serve on graduate student advisory committees. Service: Participate in departmental committees and institutional initiatives. Contribute to departmental seminars and annual research retreats. Minimum QualificationsM.D., Ph.D., or equivalent in a relevant field. Demonstrated expertise in antibiotic resistance research. Strong record of scholarly publications and potential for securing external funding Commitment to teaching and mentoring graduate students and postdocs. Work Authorization Requirement:This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
